How did you come up with the idea for this product?
Colin Cudmore attended a lecture by urban agriculture guru Will Allen (founder of Growing Power). Colin was so perturbed by the state of fresh food availability in many of our cities across the United States that he literally made it a personal goal to make a difference and help change the landscape of “food deserts”. Since 2010 Colin Cudmore and Joel Grant have been harnessing the natural and ancient methods of breaking down organics to nourish new plants for healthy produce in three distinct generations of Garden Towers – The Original Garden Tower, the Garden Tower 1.1, and the Garden Tower 2. The Garden Tower is a thoroughly optimized vertical keyhole garden which draws on efficient nutrient and water management design principles from ancient arid African agriculture.

The moment a person begins growing some of their own food organically they are closer to a healthier life and contributing to a more resilient system of agriculture. The planter is great for growing strawberries, herbs, succulents, flowers, peppers, lettuce, and much more in a one square foot vertical space.
